FIRST TRIP OF 2011 SEASON

Thursday, March 10, 2011 by Carol Kuhns
First tripfirst trip

We are often ask, do we raft if it rains? Well we also will raft in the snow. This was the first trip of the season and the night before we had received a few inches of snow. This did not stop this group. They were so excited to raft, the snow was the last thing on their minds. These guys were a group from IUP ( on spring break ) and they told us, they are hockey players so this had no impact on them. White water rafting is what they wanted to do that day no matter what.

rafting story,4

Tuesday, January 4, 2011 by ww adventures
I wanted to tell of one of my favorite adventures with you.

some of the folks I work with wanted to white water raft and I set up our trip. We got there and got organized and I was in a raft with 3 other high spirited fun people. We got started and were on our way when within 6 minutes of the trip we went over a small rift and the guy to my left lost his balance falling into me and knocking me completely off the raft and as they were all laughing I was going in yelling "Thanks, Brian" and so it started. I got back in and as we traveled down the middle Yough we talked and laughed and were having a great time and as we came to the calm spots it was a contest to see which one stayed in the raft as each was pushing others out, the water was great and we had a great team building experience. When we got to the huge rock you can jump into the water from we pulled over and decided to all line up and jump bravely together there was a group watching and as we went forward I stopped, hesitated for a moment then jumped and one spectator said and I thought you were the smart one, it was fantastic to enjoy the water there, it gives you such life and excitement.

We regularly talk of that day, it brings folks together to share great times. Thanks for having a the equipment for all to rent and experience great adventures!

rafting story, 1

Tuesday, January 4, 2011 by ww adventures
My boss decided to do a team building get away this summer which included a trip to White Water Adventures. There was a work group of 7 of us who decided to go rafting, a few had done it before, but most of us had not. We had a blast! We worked as a team, took direction from the guides and did well. Once coworker almost went overboard twice, but we rallied to her aid quickly. We all said we definitely want to do this again. a great adventure for a family, a group or organization!

What's included in the cost of the rafting trip?

Tuesday, January 4, 2011 by ww adventures
Guide escorted tours for Ohiopyle rafting trips at White Water Adventurers, Inc. (on the Middle Yough and Lower Yough) include a 4 to 6 person raft, paddles, personal flotation devices, helmets, a deli-style lunch, transportation back to the check-in area, and guide escorts in kayaks along with the trip (not in the raft with you).

That is your basic Ohiopyle rafting vacation. You can customize your  fun family vacation in many ways.

Upgrades include:  the captained raft option (a guide in the raft with you), taking a 1 or 2 person inflatable kayak instead of the raft, biking back to Ohiopyle instead of riding the bus, or for groups of 20 or more, having a BBQ/picnic after the trip.

Class 5 rafting trips on the Upper Yough include a 4 person raft (3 guests and 1 guide), paddles, personal flotation devices, helmets, transportation to the river and back to the check-in area in Ohiopyle,  and lunch at our coffee shop before the trip.

The Cheat River tour includes rafts (the size depends on the water level), paddles, personal flotation devices, helmets, a deli-style lunch, transportation to the river and back to the check-in area in Ohiopyle, and guides in the raft with you.

number of people in rafts

Here at White Water Adventurers we pride ourselves on being flexible.

Under normal water conditions, our Ohiopyle rafting trips use 4 to 6 person rafts and the guides travel downriver in their own kayaks. Your fun family vacation does not need to fill a raft. We can accommodate any group size.

Smaller family rafting trips will be paired up with other rafters (This is a great way to make new friends.) or you may choose to upgrade to a 1 or 2 person inflatable kayak or personal paddle boat.

Don't worry if your family vacation group includes an odd number of persons.  Rafts can have 3 or 5 persons too.

If you are looking at our captained raft option (a guide in the raft), we try to limit the raft to no more than 5 guests and the guide. Otherwise, there's not a lot of leg room.

Bottom line: It's your group. You choose how many you would like to have in the raft and who you want to sit beside. Remember, we're having FUN here!

Rafts? Who needs those!

Monday, June 28, 2010 by ww adventures

Here in Ohiopyle State Park, people will venture down the Lower Yough in a variety of watercrafts. Whether it's a group of friends going on a good ol' fashioned Pennsylvania raft rental or a family taking inflatable kayaks for a spin on one of our guided raft trips, there are plenty of ways to to customize your family vacation or weekend getaway!

The guides that work at White Water Adventurers are so experienced, they don't even need rafts! So what are you waiting for? Come visit Ohiopyle State Park and go rafting, and who knows, you may even witness a guide walk on water!

RAFTING.COM sends out a shout out to the "Yough"

Sunday, June 27, 2010 by ww adventures

Featured in Friday June 25th issue of the USA Today, is our very own Youghiogheny River. Listed as one of the Top Family Vacation spots for rafting in the Country! Ohiopyle State Park features Rafting Guided Trips for everybody, from the Novice to the Expert. From Class I to Class 5 Rafting, we got it all here, but don't take it from us! Listen to the to U.S Rafting Association President Tim Brink who says, "The nearby town of Ohiopyle just oozes river culture." While we agree here at White Water Adventurers, we also like to state that oozing river culture sounds like we don't take care of our personal hygiene, and we assure you, we do, most of us anyways.

May Rain brings big rapids to Ohiopyle State Park

Monday, May 24, 2010 by ww adventures

Rain usually dampers most people's summer plans, but not here in Ohiopyle State Park. With all this extra rain brings big water and even bigger thrills. Ohiopyle Rafting Vacations are fun, no matter the weather, we run trips through rain, thunderstorms, and even volcanic eruptions (which are rare here in South Western PA.) Whether you're looking for a mild float trip on our Middle Yough trip, a class 3/4 run on our most popular Lower Yough, or a challenging trip on our Upper Yough which is a Class 5 Rafting run, all are more fun with more water. White Water Adventurers offers the best Pennsylvania Rafting in the State. So if the rain has got you feeling blue, let us take you on an unforgettable journey down the beautiful Youghigheny, which is sure to wash away those pre summer jitters. As the fellow in the picture will tell you, with Ohiopyle Rafting, getting wet is half the fun.

Summertime Music

Sunday, April 25, 2010 by ww adventures
With the weather getting warmer and warmer, you can almost smell summer coming. And with summer coming, that means its time for family vacation getaways. These trips can either be a great time or a terrible ride with your kids or siblings. To make the best out of your family vacation, whether you're rafting guided trips, going hiking, or just chilling at the beach, you need some music to accompany you for the good times. So this summer if you need some jams, here are some of our current favorite bands to check out.

Write This Down is a new up and coming band that you should keep your eye on. With some hard guitar riffs and catchy vocals, this is one band you will want to accompany you during and after your family vacation trips.

If you're a fan of classic rock (cowbells included) then you might want to check out The Classic Crime. Their third album Vagabonds proves that sophistication isn't always necessary. The perfect example is the song Solar Powered Life. The song states that all you need to have a good time is some fun in the sun. The song could very well be an anthem about Ohiopyle State Park, because I will definitely be having a good time white water rafting, and then rocking out to some sweet summer jams.

Family Trips

Friday, April 23, 2010 by Carol Kuhns
Here at White Water Adventurers we love to introduce young children to rafting. The Middle Yough is the perfect place. For children as young as 5 can start on the Middle Yough. They get a chance to see what White Water rafting is all about, to use the paddle to move their boats down river and swim right in the river. The Middle has the the best scenery that you can enjoy while rafting in Ohiopyle State Park. This is one of the the Top Family Vacation spots around the area.

While on the Middle Yough you may see ducks swimming along with you, even deer come down for a drink as you pass by, While you are on your tour you may even see a large and loud.....Train. You will see this river right, and you will see one or two pass you by as you paddle down.

For a Fun Family Rafting trips  consider the Middle Yough, not only for the young but even for the older ones in your family. We have inflatables which are like kayaks, but they are open you are not closed in so you have no worries of trying to roll over. If you flip or fall out you  just climb back in.

You can go on the Middle yough with a guided tour or you can rent the equipment and go it alone. On our guided tour we will show you the best path to paddle down we provide the guide staff to help you enjoy the best rafting trip you can experience. If you feel adventurous and go it alone that is fine pack your own lunch and drinks and enjoy the day, there are plenty of sandy beaches to pull your raft into. Stop and enjoy with your family what Ohiopyle has to offer.
