Rafting Guided Trips

In Ohiopyle State Park, there are number of different rafters you will see on the Lower Youghiogheny. Everything from people on family rafting trips, to people renting personal paddle boats and duckies and.... ducks?!?!

One of our photographers snapped this picture of a momma duck taking her ducklings (and friends?) up the river. These aren't your ordinary run-of-the-mill ducks, these are rough, rugged, and just generally awesome river ducks.

These little guys will swim upstream through the rapids and even under the water. They do pretty much everything a rafter will do, even catching eddies!

So next time you are in the area and are doing some Ohiopyle rafting, if you pay attention and are lucky, you might even see some ducks on the river. Just remember to respect the wildlife!

Here in Ohiopyle State Park, people will venture down the Lower Yough in a variety of watercrafts. While we agree here at White Water Adventurers, we also like to state that oozing river culture sounds like we don't take care of our personal hygiene, and we assure you, we do, most of us anyways.

Memorial day weekend has come and gone, so summer has offically started here in Ohiopyle State Park. Ohiopyle has Rafting near Pittsburgh, and is close enough to offer DC weekend trips, on the powerful Youghigheny river. As you can tell by the picture, our guides, especially Zane here, have been anxiously awaiting the warm weather. If you're looking for I, II, III, IV, or even Class 5 rafting, we offer it all here at Ohiopyle State Park, the top family vacation spot in Southwestern Pennslyvania.  

 




A lot of people enjoy rafting in Ohiopyle for a fun family vacation, but not everybody has the time to a do a full 3-5 hour trip. Well fear not, there is a trip for you! The first mile and a half of the Lower Yough makes up a section of the river called "The Loop." And even though it is only a mile and a half, this section is filled with thrills!  If you would like to go on a guided tour and just do " The Loop " no problem just let us know.
Or  you can still rent a 4 or 6 person raft, inflatable kayak, or a personal paddle boat. The Loop takeout leads you to the bike trail, which allows you to transport your craft of choice back to us.

The greatest thing about the Loop is that it can be completed in 30-45 minutes! Many people will go on the Loop 2 or 3 times. So if you are just now deciding on going on a last minute family rafting trip, coming up for the day from Pittsburgh or DC, check out the Loop if you are pressed for time!

With the weather getting warmer and warmer, you can almost smell summer coming. And with summer coming, that means its time for family vacation getaways. If you're a fan of classic rock (cowbells included) then you might want to check out The Classic Crime. Their third album Vagabonds proves that sophistication isn't always necessary. The perfect example is the song Solar Powered Life. The song states that all you need to have a good time is some fun in the sun. The song could very well be an anthem about Ohiopyle State Park, because I will definitely be having a good time white water rafting, and then rocking out to some sweet summer jams.

Here at White Water Adventurers we love to introduce young children to rafting.The Middle Yough is the perfect place. For children as young as 5 can start on the Middle Yough. They get a chance to see what White Water rafting is all about, to use the paddle to move their boats down river and swim right in the river.The Middle has the the best scenery that you can enjoy while rafting in Ohiopyle State Park. This is one of the the Top Family Vacation spots around the area.

While on the Middle Yough you may see ducks swimming along with you, even deer come down for a drink as you pass by, While you are on your tour you may even see a large and loud.....Train. You will see this river right, and you will see one or two pass you by as you paddle down.

For a Fun Family Rafting trips  consider the Middle Yough, not only for the young but even for the older ones in your family. We have inflatables which are like kayaks, but they are open you are not closed in so you have no worries of trying to roll over. If you flip or fall out you  just climb back in.

You can go on the Middle yough with a guided tour or you can rent the equipment and go it alone. I just wanted to say a little something about my family vacation to Ohiopyle State Park in Pennsylvania. We went there just thinking the only thing there was the river and we were just planning on swimming in a calm pools there and hanging out on the rocks. Well when we got there we saw people every where on the river and on the bike trail so we decided to explore a bit.

We ended up talking to one of the locals who pointed us in the direction of White Water Adventurers. This is where we met September, she was from the area and wanted us to have a great experience in the park. She signed us up for a guided white water rafting trip on the middle yough.

I was a little nervous about taking my young kids white water rafting on the river all alone, September had Andrew jump in our raft to help us out. This was great my kids had a blast, and have not stopped talking about it since we left. Thank you to September for your help and Andrew for making this a great vacation.

I bet everyone is starting to think that summer is coming to an end quickly, i know i was! My time was running out for family vacation. I was running out of ideas, in the past we have done the whole disney world thing as well as going to all of those crowded beaches. We live in the DC area and so i started looking for anything close by to squeeze in last minute, the only tough thing about this was that the ages range in our family from 23,20, 12 and 7 so finding family vacation spots to please everyone is not very easy.

Then i came across Ohiopyle rafting trips.. I thought this place was great, they had activities for everyone. The three olds kids went white water rafting on the lower yough which was challenging enough and fun for all of them, while the youngest and I went rafting on the middle yough! That was the easy section, but my seven year old had a blast! The guides at whitewater adventurers did a great job with us on the middle, they even had squirt guns and games to play while floating down the river through the Ohiopyle State Park.
So I just wanted to share my story and thank everyone at whitewater adventurers for a great rafting trip and we will be sure to check out the class 5 whitewater rafting on our next visit.

The Great Allegheny Passage is the 150 mile system of hiking and biking trails that connect Cumberland, MD and Pittsburgh, PA. It follows the Yough river right through Ohiopyle, PA and beyond. It seems we are all adjusting to the temperature fluctuations as spring comes to an end and another great summer is just around the corner. Here are some great ideas on what to do when you see the mercury rising.

• Hit the bike trail. Most of the old rail road bed is now canopied with fresh leaf growth.
