Ohiopyle State Park

In Ohiopyle State Park, there are number of different rafters you will see on the Lower Youghiogheny. Everything from people on family rafting trips, to people renting personal paddle boats and duckies and.... ducks?!?!

One of our photographers snapped this picture of a momma duck taking her ducklings (and friends?) up the river. These aren't your ordinary run-of-the-mill ducks, these are rough, rugged, and just generally awesome river ducks.

These little guys will swim upstream through the rapids and even under the water. They do pretty much everything a rafter will do, even catching eddies!

So next time you are in the area and are doing some Ohiopyle rafting, if you pay attention and are lucky, you might even see some ducks on the river. Just remember to respect the wildlife!

With the weather getting warmer and warmer, you can almost smell summer coming. And with summer coming, that means its time for family vacation getaways. Write This Down is a new up and coming band that you should keep your eye on. With some hard guitar riffs and catchy vocals, this is one band you will want to accompany you during and after your family vacation trips.

If you're a fan of classic rock (cowbells included) then you might want to check out The Classic Crime. Their third album Vagabonds proves that sophistication isn't always necessary. The perfect example is the song Solar Powered Life. The song states that all you need to have a good time is some fun in the sun. The song could very well be an anthem about Ohiopyle State Park, because I will definitely be having a good time white water rafting, and then rocking out to some sweet summer jams.

Here at White Water Adventurers we love to introduce young children to rafting.The Middle Yough is the perfect place. For children as young as 5 can start on the Middle Yough. They get a chance to see what White Water rafting is all about, to use the paddle to move their boats down river and swim right in the river.The Middle has the the best scenery that you can enjoy while rafting in Ohiopyle State Park. This is one of the the Top Family Vacation spots around the area.

While on the Middle Yough you may see ducks swimming along with you, even deer come down for a drink as you pass by, While you are on your tour you may even see a large and loud.....Train. You will see this river right, and you will see one or two pass you by as you paddle down.

For a Fun Family Rafting trips  consider the Middle Yough, not only for the young but even for the older ones in your family. We have inflatables which are like kayaks, but they are open you are not closed in so you have no worries of trying to roll over. If you flip or fall out you  just climb back in.

You can go on the Middle yough with a guided tour or you can rent the equipment and go it alone. On our guided tour we will show you the best path to paddle down we provide the guide staff to help you enjoy the best rafting trip you can experience. If you feel adventurous and go it alone that is fine pack your own lunch and drinks and enjoy the day, there are plenty of sandy beaches to pull your raft into. Well Ohiopyle is a little cold today with it being only 38 degrees and a little windy. That did not stop the few people who made a get away from the city. The couple had planed on a quick trip to Ohiopyle State Park, but then discovered us and came white water rafting. This DC weekend trip was a great and easy trip they said, it only took a few hours to get here and they did not have to worry about the crazy traffic they encounter in DC. They not only had a blast today in the cold but they are also planning their next Pennsylvania White Water Rafting vacation now.

Some People think Ohiopyle might be a "ghost town" this time of year because it is just to darn cold to be out there on there river. Well last weekend i have some family come in from out of town, I wanted to show them around and also still have some fun. Believe me Ohiopyle State Park is packed full of activities and family fun all winter long. Our first adventure was hiking down to the wonderful cucumber falls located right outside of Ohiopyle. This was great to see with all of the snow and ice.


Our next stop after this was up to Sugar loaf which is the road heading towards our class 1and 2 river, the Middle yough. This is a great family vacation spot for all ages. We got kind of side tracked while heading to the river on this snowy day, we stopped at one of the many spots along the road and headed for a few hours on the cross country ski trails.This was alot of fun especially for the new timers we had along with us. After spending some time here we finally made it back to Ohiopyle to the local pub for some refreshments and to warm up. This is where we talked about how great the ohiopyle rafting is going to be this summer from all the winter melt.
