Casual Friday for Our Guide Staff

Sunday, July 11, 2010 by ww adventures
It seems as though our guides are always around rafts even when they aren't working! Here, some of our staff are at a wedding taking one of our personal paddle boats to a pond to get some good photographs of the bride and groom. There weren't any rapids and they didn't even have to worry about getting wet!

While they had a good time, it certainly isn't the same as being on the Upper (Class 5 rafting) or even Ohiopyle rafting on the Lower (Class 3 rafting).

Needless to say, they are happy to be back in the area and are looking forward to more days on the river!

RAFTING.COM sends out a shout out to the "Yough"

Sunday, June 27, 2010 by ww adventures

Featured in Friday June 25th issue of the USA Today, is our very own Youghiogheny River. Listed as one of the Top Family Vacation spots for rafting in the Country! Ohiopyle State Park features Rafting Guided Trips for everybody, from the Novice to the Expert. From Class I to Class 5 Rafting, we got it all here, but don't take it from us! Listen to the to U.S Rafting Association President Tim Brink who says, "The nearby town of Ohiopyle just oozes river culture." While we agree here at White Water Adventurers, we also like to state that oozing river culture sounds like we don't take care of our personal hygiene, and we assure you, we do, most of us anyways.

White Water Hummm ......

Thursday, January 7, 2010 by Carol Kuhns
If you live any where in  this country, this winter has been pretty cold. You can not escape the bitterness even, as far south as Florida they have been experiencing the cold. I am sure the last thing on your mind is White Water Rafting. As you shovel yet another day, there seems to be no end to this. Just keep in mind there are only 13 weeks of winter and soon this will all melt. Which means, come spring the lower yough will make for the best the Youghiogheny River in Ohiopyle State Park has to offer. You are on a class 3 and 4 river but will feel like a class 5. But do keep in mind when the water levels are high we do have the professional guide in your raft. We use the larger rafts when we are above 4 foot, these rafts will hold up to 8 to 10  people. Plan now get your friends together. Once this snow is gone, come March we will be ready. Will you?   Oh by the way this is our Manager Jim Greenbaum

Ohiopyle Fun

Tuesday, June 30, 2009 by ww adventures
So have you been missing out on summer fun and not getting to see some of the high school or college friends you had planned on? Well Ohiopyle is a great place to get the ball moving on your summer weekend getaway with those friends. Whitewater Adventurers offers you the ability to rent your own raft.

I know this sounds weird but my friends and I just wanted to take our time going down the river and catching up on old times and stories. Well I came to find out that Pennsylvania raft rentals is really not that common, because of some restrictions they put on taking your own raft down the river. My friends and I were so glad that the Ohiopyle State park lets you rent your own raft and take the challenge of guiding your self down the river. My friends and I have had so much fun rafting and hanging out in Ohiopyle that we now are going to make it our yearly outing to come back and visit and even try upper yough which is class 5 rafting. We are so excited and hope that everyone can experience the fun we had.

Top Family Vacations

Saturday, June 27, 2009 by ww adventures
I was recently on a family vacation in Colorado and we decided to go on a white water rafting expedition. We  went with Buffalo Joes White Water Rafting Company. It just so happened that our white water rafting guide was Alex. Alex is from Ohiopyle, Pennsylvania, when  we got talking  he told us when we got back home to Washington , DC we should check out the Ohiopyle State Park it was great for families and it was beatiful.
He use to be a guide there and recommended us to go rafting with White Water Adventurers. We decided to check it out a few weeks ago when we had those extremly hott days.
They had everything in that small little town that was right in the middle of the Ohiopyle State Park. My family went rafting on the Upper Yough which was the class 5 part of the river they offered. I wanted to check out the town and relax so  I rented a bike and rode on the bike trail and also had a little lunch at the coffee shop right there at white water. This was great, my family loved it and wanted to come back with their friends. I would recommened White Water Adventures to anyone, they have a friendly staff who is there to make your family vacation one to remember.

DC Getaway

Saturday, June 27, 2009 by ww adventures
I bet everyone is starting to think that summer is coming to an end quickly, i know i was! My time was running out for family vacation. I was running out of ideas, in the past we have done the whole disney world thing as well as going to all of those crowded beaches. We live in the DC area and so i started looking for anything close by to squeeze in last minute, the only tough thing about this was that the ages range in our family from 23,20, 12 and 7 so finding family vacation spots to please everyone is not very easy.

Then i came across Ohiopyle rafting trips.. I thought this place was great, they had activities for everyone. The three olds kids went white water rafting on the lower yough which was challenging enough and fun for all of them, while the youngest and I went rafting on the middle yough! That was the easy section, but my seven year old had a blast! The guides at whitewater adventurers did a great job with us on the middle, they even had squirt guns and games to play while floating down the river through the Ohiopyle State Park.
So I just wanted to share my story and thank everyone at whitewater adventurers for a great rafting trip and we will be sure to check out the class 5 whitewater rafting on our next visit.

YOUGH FESTIVAL

Thursday, April 9, 2009 by ww adventures
Come to enjoy the YOUGH Festival in Friendsville Maryland. Home of the Upper Yough.

2009 Yough River Festival

The Yough River Festival Group cordially invites you to attend the

Annual Yough River Festival to be held on Saturday, August 22, 2009 beginning at 3pm in the Friendsville Town Park...

The festival idea came about because visitors and locals alike realized how much the Youghiogheny has enriched their lives and the Town of Friendsville itself. The idea was to show our appreciation of the river as an eco-system and to celebrate its presence in the community by creating festive, fun-loving activities through music, dance, games, crafts, water activities and environmental demonstrations, as well as providing good food, vendors, music and relaxation.

In the past several years, the festival has grown in interest and in attendance we are celebrating once again with the ducky race and fish population demo on Bear Creek. We are also creating a new approach by naming a "Wisdom Keeper of the River", displaying an art and photo contest, and by hosting a 5k run with the support and experience of the Garrett Recreational Trails Committee.

The festival starts at 3pm Saturday afternoon in the Friendsville Town Park. Come experience the educational exhibits and demonstrations on the river, food vendors, artisans, white water company booths, games for children and competitions. Live blue grass music will draw in a crowd of vacationers, locals, sports enthusiasts and river adventurers. The turnout keeps growing each year with last year’s attendance at around a thousand attendees. Entertainers including, the Half Time String Band, Smith & Roberts, and String Fever will be offering high energy blue grass music just perfect for end of summer entertainment and dancing into the evening.

Net proceeds from the Festival go to local not-for-profit organizations such as the Yough River Watershed Association to support their actions to protect and preserve the Youghiogheny River.

Please gather together with us as part of this festival and community to observe the sparkling beauty and endless wonder of the Youghiogheny River, as it flows through our lives and town. Your festival experience will be a part of an ongoing venture to highlight the wonder, mystery, diversity, and complexity of the Youghiogheny River and its eco-system.
